Câu điều kiện (Conditional Sentences) là một phần quan trọng trong ngữ pháp tiếng Anh, dùng để diễn tả mối quan hệ nguyên nhân – kết quả giữa hai hành động hoặc tình huống. Dưới đây là bài giảng chi tiết về các loại câu điều kiện, cách sử dụng và bài tập thực hành.

I. CÁC LOẠI CÂU ĐIỀU KIỆN

1. Câu Điều Kiện Loại 0 (Zero Conditional)

Công thức:

👉 If + S + V (hiện tại đơn), S + V (hiện tại đơn).

Cách dùng:

• Dùng để diễn tả sự thật hiển nhiên, quy luật tự nhiên hoặc thói quen.

Ví dụ:

✅ If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.
(Nếu bạn đun nước đến 100°C, nó sẽ sôi.)

✅ If the sun sets, it gets dark.
(Nếu mặt trời lặn, trời sẽ tối.)

2. Câu Điều Kiện Loại 1 (First Conditional)

Công thức:

👉 If + S + V (hiện tại đơn), S + will + V (nguyên mẫu).

Cách dùng:

• Dùng để diễn tả tình huống có thể xảy ra trong tương lai.

Ví dụ:

✅ If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
(Nếu bạn học chăm chỉ, bạn sẽ đậu kỳ thi.)

✅ If it rains tomorrow, we will stay at home.
(Nếu ngày mai trời mưa, chúng ta sẽ ở nhà.)

3. Câu Điều Kiện Loại 2 (Second Conditional)

Công thức:

👉 If + S + V (quá khứ đơn), S + would + V (nguyên mẫu).

Cách dùng:

• Dùng để diễn tả tình huống không có thật ở hiện tại hoặc giả định không thể xảy ra.

Ví dụ:

✅ If I were a millionaire, I would travel the world.
(Nếu tôi là triệu phú, tôi sẽ đi du lịch khắp thế giới.)

✅ If she had more time, she would learn another language.
(Nếu cô ấy có nhiều thời gian hơn, cô ấy sẽ học một ngôn ngữ khác.)

📌 Lưu ý: Với động từ to be, ta luôn dùng were cho tất cả các chủ ngữ trong câu điều kiện loại 2.

4. Câu Điều Kiện Loại 3 (Third Conditional)

Công thức:

👉 If + S + had + V3, S + would have + V3.

Cách dùng:

• Dùng để diễn tả một tình huống không có thật trong quá khứ, điều đã không xảy ra.

Ví dụ:

✅ If she had studied harder, she would have passed the exam.
(Nếu cô ấy học chăm hơn, cô ấy đã đậu kỳ thi.)

✅ If I had woken up earlier, I wouldn’t have missed the train.
(Nếu tôi thức dậy sớm hơn, tôi đã không lỡ chuyến tàu.)

5. Câu Điều Kiện Hỗn Hợp (Mixed Conditionals)

Loại 1: Quá khứ → Hiện tại

👉 If + S + had + V3, S + would + V (nguyên mẫu).

• Dùng khi điều kiện trong quá khứ ảnh hưởng đến hiện tại.

Ví dụ:
✅ If I had studied harder, I would be more confident now.
(Nếu tôi đã học chăm hơn, bây giờ tôi sẽ tự tin hơn.)

✅ If she had taken the job, she would be rich now.
(Nếu cô ấy đã nhận công việc đó, bây giờ cô ấy sẽ giàu.)

Loại 2: Hiện tại → Quá khứ

👉 If + S + V (quá khứ đơn), S + would have + V3.

• Dùng khi điều kiện không có thật ở hiện tại dẫn đến một kết quả khác trong quá khứ.

Ví dụ:
✅ If I were taller, I would have joined the basketball team last year.
(Nếu tôi cao hơn, tôi đã tham gia đội bóng rổ năm ngoái.)

✅ If she were more careful, she wouldn’t have had an accident.
(Nếu cô ấy cẩn thận hơn, cô ấy đã không gặp tai nạn.)

II. CÁCH SỬ DỤNG NÂNG CAO

1. Cách Dùng Unless

👉 Unless = If not (trừ khi, nếu không).

Cấu trúc:

• Unless + S + V (hiện tại đơn), S + will + V (nguyên mẫu).
• Unless + S + V (quá khứ đơn), S + would + V (nguyên mẫu).

Ví dụ:
✅ You will fail the exam unless you study hard.
(Bạn sẽ trượt kỳ thi trừ khi bạn học chăm.)

✅ Unless we leave now, we will miss the train.
(Trừ khi chúng ta rời đi ngay, chúng ta sẽ lỡ chuyến tàu.)

📌 Lưu ý:

• Không dùng phủ định trong mệnh đề chứa unless. ❌ Unless you don’t study, you will fail.
• Unless thường dùng trong câu điều kiện loại 1 và loại 2.

2. Đảo Ngữ Trong Câu Điều Kiện

Dùng để nhấn mạnh câu điều kiện, thường xuất hiện trong văn viết hoặc lời nói trang trọng.

Cấu trúc đảo ngữ:

Ví dụ:

✅ Câu Điều Kiện Loại 1 (If → Should)
❌ If you need help, call me.
✔️ Should you need help, call me.

✅ Câu Điều Kiện Loại 2 (If → Were)
❌ If I were you, I would accept the job.
✔️ Were I you, I would accept the job.

✅ Câu Điều Kiện Loại 3 (If → Had)
❌ If she had studied harder, she would have passed the exam.
✔️ Had she studied harder, she would have passed the exam.

3. CẤU TRÚC VỚI “WISH” và ” IF ONLY”

🔹 Cấu trúc với “Wish”

📍 Diễn tả ước muốn hoặc hối tiếc về một điều không có thật.

🔸 Ước muốn ở hiện tại:
Wish + S + V (quá khứ đơn)
Ví dụ: I wish I were taller. (Tôi ước mình cao hơn.)

🔸 Ước muốn ở quá khứ:
Wish + S + had + V3/ed
Ví dụ: I wish I had studied harder for the exam. (Tôi ước mình đã học chăm hơn cho kỳ thi.)

🔸 Ước muốn ở tương lai:
Wish + S + would/could + V (nguyên mẫu)
Ví dụ: I wish it would stop raining. (Tôi ước trời ngừng mưa.)

🔹 Cách dùng “If only”

📍 Diễn tả sự tiếc nuối mạnh mẽ hơn so với “wish”.

🔸 Tiếc nuối về hiện tại:
If only + S + V (quá khứ đơn)
Ví dụ: If only I were taller! (Giá như tôi cao hơn!)

🔸 Tiếc nuối về quá khứ:
If only + S + had + V3/ed
Ví dụ: If only I had studied harder! (Giá như tôi đã học chăm hơn!)

🔸 Tiếc nuối về tương lai:
If only + S + would/could + V (nguyên mẫu)
Ví dụ: If only he would listen to me. (Giá như anh ấy chịu nghe tôi.)

🔹 Ví dụ:

• If I had been more responsible, I wouldn’t have maxed out on my credit cards. (Nếu tôi có trách nhiệm hơn, tôi đã không dùng hết hạn mức thẻ tín dụng.)
• I wish I had bought a house when you could still get a 100% mortgage. (Tôi ước mình đã mua nhà khi còn có thể vay thế chấp 100%.)
• If only I had reserved my ticket earlier, I would have paid a lot less for it. (Giá như tôi đặt vé sớm hơn, tôi đã trả ít tiền hơn.)

📝 Lưu ý:

• “Wish” có thể dùng thay thế cho “If only”, nhưng “If only” nhấn mạnh hơn.
• Khi dùng “wish” để nói về mong muốn hiện tại, động từ “to be” luôn dùng “were” thay vì “was”.
